He1p / FIELD NOTES
Your public IP, without the page
A terminal request to the home page returns your connection IP and one newline.
Plain text
curl -fsS https://he1p.net wget -qO- https://he1p.net Invoke-RestMethod https://he1p.net/ip
/ip always returns plain text, regardless of user agent. Use curl -4 or curl -6 if your connection supports that family. It is the source address seen for the request, which may belong to a VPN or NAT gateway.
JSON
curl -fsS https://he1p.net/api/ip
The response has ip and version fields. No API key is required. Personalized responses are not cacheable.
Be a considerate caller
There is a 200-request limit per source IP per minute and a separate limit of six live-lookup requests per minute where applicable. Shared NAT users share these limits. When you receive 429, wait for the Retry-After interval. Do not poll in a tight loop. These free endpoints have no uptime commitment.
